I’m a long-time fan of this genre (long enough to have seen Lothar and the Hand People in concert…). Your article was very enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to hearing the podcasts.
There are two live events that you might be interested in checking out. First is NEARFest, the NE Art Rock Festival, held over a weekend on the campus of Lehigh University. Details are available at http://www.nearfest.com
The second is the series put on in Philadelphia called “The Gatherings” (www.thegatherings.org). Appearing this year will be Saul Stokes, Robert Rich, the Ministry of Inside Things, Ian Boddy, Slow Six, and Air Sculpture.

Hi Dave!
Thanks so much for reading the article. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Of course, I hope you like the podcasts.
I was not familiar with NEARFest, but I’ll certainly check the link out.
I’ve been to several Gatherings over the years, and they’ve all been enjoyable. I certainly plan to see Robert Rich next month, and I’ve already got tickets for Stokes/Bentley/Hughes! Can’t wait to hear the Vast material live.

I got my copy of the Asimov’s last night. Excellent article and it got me searching! I’m a huge music lover and I always like to expand my tastes. Your current podcast is downloading as I type.
I honestly had not heard any of the bands you mentioned (except Kraftwerk), but I had heard OF Mr. Brian Eno. I’m excited to listen to your podcasts!

I disagree. “Warm Leatherette” IS the best song in the world.
